CHICAGO - November 15, 2002- O'Hare International Airport welcomes the launch of TACA non-stop service to Guatemala City with continuing service to San Jose, Costa Rica beginning November 16th. The introduction of passenger flights by TACA, a leading airline in Central America, will be the carrier's first Midwest service and the only non-stop service to Guatemala from Chicago.
"We welcome TACA passenger service to O'Hare," said Chicago Aviation Commissioner Thomas R. Walker. "The non-stop service will serve Chicago's growing Central American population as well as travelers looking for new and exciting vacation destinations. Business travelers will also be able to take advantage of the early morning departure from Chicago," said Walker.
TACA flight 683 will operate Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using Airbus 320 equipment. The flight will depart O'Hare at 1:50 am and arrive in Guatemala City at 6:20 am. In addition, a fourth flight on Sundays will operate from December 15th-January 12th in order to meet market demand during the holiday season. A total of 42 scheduled and charter airlines offer non-stop and direct service to 210 destinations around the world.
O'Hare is pleased to welcome TACA passenger service and looks forward to continued growth in the international sector. "O'Hare offers
more non-stop service than any other airport in the United States. With so many travel choices, O'Hare continues to offer more of what travelers want in quality air service", said Walker.
Chicago O'Hare will be TACA's 10th gateway in the United States to Central America. TACA offers customers the benefits of flying the youngest fleet of aircraft in Latin America. The airline flies to 36 destinations in 19 countries in North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. In addition, TACA's regional airline partners make it possible for passengers to connect to 60 destinations within the Central American region.
