The goal of the program is to provide schools in the Midway area with sound insulation, which may include noise attenuating windows, additional roofing and ceiling insulation, improved doors, and related measures intended to reduce the transmission of noise into schools.

The Mayor and the Department of Aviation are strongly committed to the School Sound Insulation Program and are ready to provide assistance to schools at each stage of the program. Six schools are currently in the construction closeout phase,  two schools are under construction.   Approximately
$83.8 million has been spent to date on the schools that are completed and the ones currently underway.
