Chicago Airport System Fleet Mix Summary Report - 2007

The Fleet Mix report summarizes the number of aircraft operating at Midway. The report is summarized in four ways: fleet mix for each airline during all hours of the day; fleet mix for each airline during the nighttime hours (10PM to 7AM); fleet mix for each aircraft type during all hours of the day and fleet mix of each aircraft type during the nighttime hours.

Monthly Runway Use Report

The runways at Midway are utilized at different times primarily depending upon the prevailing wind conditions on the airfield, as well as any runway maintenance. Aircraft performance requirements make it necessary for aircraft to depart and land into the wind for safety reasons.

The Runway Use Report presents the average number of daily operations on each runway and the percentage of use for each runway. The percentage of use for each runway is shown graphically for departures and arrivals for all hours of the day and night and for all aircraft types.

Annual Noise Level Report

The data presented summarizes the Day Night Average Sound Level (DNL). DNL is a 24-hour time averaged sound exposure level with a 10 dB nighttime(10PM to 7AM) weighting.

The Aircraft DNL Table displays the measured aircraft DNL for each month, each quarter, and the year-to-date measurement. The quarterly noise levels for each site are shown graphically on the Aircraft DNL Chart.

The daily aircraft DNL varies from day to day. This is primarily because different runways are used under different wind conditions, which affect where the aircraft fly.

Noise Hotline Reports

The Department of Aviation maintains a noise hotline for citizens to express their concerns about particular incidents or aircraft noise levels in general. The Noise Hotline Report summarizes the number of calls received, where the callers were located, and the nature of the disturbance.

The Monthly Hotline Calls by Community & Nature of Complaint report lists . The Monthly Hotline Calls by Community and Nature of Complaint page illustrates the number of calls by community and the number of individual callers, as well as the primary nature of the disturbance that the caller identified. The Location of Monthly Hotline Calls page graphically illustrates on a map where the calls were located.
